Besides an FCC-issued amateur operator license, what is required to be the control operator of a Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Service (RACES) Station?
Pick an answer to check it.
Answer: C. Certification of current enrollment by a civil defense organization
FCC rule 97.407 says a RACES control operator needs certification of current enrollment by a civil defense organization, in addition to an amateur license. RACES works with government emergency management. ARES membership or an ARRL recommendation is not the requirement.
Tip: RACES = civil defense enrollment plus your ham license.
