Where should the negative power return of a mobile transceiver be connected in a vehicle?

The negative lead of a mobile radio should go to the 12-volt battery chassis ground connection. This gives a solid, low-resistance return path. Connecting to random metal parts or the mounting bracket can give poor connections and noise.
